If you like water sports, you have to try this. is the only cable water ski park in Cairns, and there are only four in the whole of Australia. Cable wakeboarding is a very popular sport and also one of the fastest growing extreme sports of our days.

I recon cable ski is a great water sport invention. You're not in the sea but at least you're not causing any damage to the environment, but still having fun. You don't really need to have any experience either, any group age can try cable ski. You just need to get the hang of it.

has been open for quite a few years now and offers a great water sport experience to its customers.

The Venue

The main area of the park is a spacious covered terrace, with chairs and tables for those who are only there to watch. They have a fully licensed café, a shop, a barbecue area and a small beach area at the bottom of the terrace. There you can lie down, under umbrellas, on long sun chairs. If you fell hungry and want to take a little break from the water, the cafe has a variety of things to eat and drink, hot or cold. They also have changing rooms and toilets available at the end of the venue. Bookings are available for functions or birthday parties.

The lake, they use for the cable ski is man made. And they do not need to fill it up every time, as the water is sustained by the rain. So there is no waste of water.

Equipment

The cable ski lake has eleven obstacles available. Some are harder and require a certain level, while other are for beginners and are more fun. They are well designed obstacles, so go crazy and try out some figures! Of course, you are provided with a helmet that will protect your head in case you fall off an obstacle.

The staff members that work down at the cable ski equipment area are also really experienced, and are there to help out if you have a problem or need advice. They are the ones who give you you boards and send you the cable.

I went last summer and we drove by and noticed the cable ski sign. I had heard of cable ski but never done any. So we decide to check it out. For what it is, the price is very fair. We paid about $60 for 4 hours. Four hours is way too long, though. But definitely worth it. We could even chose what we wanted, either wakeboard, kneeboard, water skis, mono ski and even barefoot. It was pretty fun and scary on the ramps.

The atmosphere

The place is really great even if you are not doing any water sport. It's really relaxed, and the rainforest and mountains that surround the place just makes you feel like you're somewhere else. It's a totally different scenery than what you find in other parts of Australia, where there are no mountains whatsoever. The staff members are really friendly, and the place is really clean and well maintained.

The park is located right next to the main tourist attraction, the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, only minutes from Cairns CBD.
You can easily miss the exit at the round about so keep an eye on the signs for Cable Ski.

If you are on holiday and don't have a car, there is a transfer service that goes from Cairns and stops there. If you are driving, there is a big car park available.

Opening Hours:
Sun-Sat 10:00am to 6:00pm
