Cabinet Bar and Balcony is an understated yet elegant bar overlooking Swanston St and just a block from Melbourne's Town Hall. While true it can take a few minutes to deduce how best to enter the bar if spotted from Swanston St, it's indeed a puzzle worth cluing out.
Accessible only by a rear laneway entry, this is one of those great Melbourne bar's you can at once visit of your own volition; but also bring along friends from out of town to showcase what makes the city great.
Walking in you'll feel invited in the first by the pretty entranceway with its handsome wooden doors, framed portraits and more.
Once inside, you'll feel doubly so. While all of Cabinet is great, sitting outside is a particularly good idea giving you chance to grab a seat and overlook the busyness of Swanston St as you enjoy a drink or two. In turn, alongside wine and cocktails and other liquid assortments, offerings such as flatbreads, pizza and garlic prawns are also in-house giving chance to sit and stay for both a drink and a meal in a great Melbourne spot.
A view of Cabinet's balcony and Swanston St beyond
It's true this city quarter is one in which there are already a number of great cafes and other attractions closeby to draw your attention; but Cabinet certainly offers a unique vibe that makes it well worth a try if yet to.
Cabinet, a great Swanston St for those keen on a view from above.
