Debra, a stay-at-home mum of three, loves experiencing and sharing all that Brisbane has to offer; especially southside secrets.

Since moving to Brisbane, the one thing that has really impressed me is the number of parks around. And not just your run of the mill children's playground with a swing and a slide; these parks are very well thought out, with something for everyone.

We are very fortunate to live within walking distance of C B Mott Park in Holland Park (Logan Road). This park, which has recently been upgraded, has two play areas which are divided by Mott Creek. A little wooden bridge crosses the creek at one end while a small concrete half-pipe crosses it at the other. The half-pipe is perfectly safe for little kids to ride their bikes or scooters down.

A cycle path, which runs the length of the park, is full of activity with bike riders and dog walkers. There is ample green space for kicking a ball and lots of trees for playing hide and seek. It is the perfect spot for a picnic, with barbecues on both sides of the park as well as plenty of covered picnic shelters. Benches are dotted throughout the park under huge shady trees. The park also features some lovely gardens.

C B Mott Park is a very popular spot for birthday parties, but if you plan on having your birthday party there on a weekend, you had better get there early. A few weekends ago, I was walking my dog through the park at 7:30 am and there were not one but two parties already getting set up. It is also very busy on Friday afternoons with school mums getting together while the kids celebrate the end of the school week.

In addition, the park features a rotunda which sometimes has brass bands playing there as part of the Brisbane City Council Bands in Parks program.

There is a small parking lot (off Abbotsleigh Street) plus plenty of off-street parking, water bubblers and toilet amenities.
