Relax in a Train Carriage

I seldom use public transport because I have my own car and generally hop in it, and set off to my destination where ever it is. One day I thought I'd catch a train instead. I've lived in Wynnum on and off for years, driven to Cleveland on countless occasions, but never on the train.



Why would one do it?

Well, it can be cheaper. You see familiar territory - but it's different, It's more relaxing because you are not driving and negotiating traffic. It's a new adventure. Trains travel regularly from Brisbane city.

From Lindum station to Cleveland, the end of the line is around 30 minutes. The train goes through so much beautiful bushland and wetlands, and you can see the road much travelled but from a different perspective.



When you arrive at the Cleveland station, you have quite a few choices to make. I'd suggest a short walk through the nearby park, on the edge of Raby Bay, to the Redlands Coast Information Centre , where you can see information about the region, and about the transport if you want to travel further away.

The Redlands Performing Arts Centre is close by - but if you will need to check online to see if there is any performance planned - check well before your Cleveland trip!



If you love boats, a walk around Raby Bay will offer you an opportunity to see the boats, or if you want a boat trip out to some of the islands in Moreton Bay, you can check here for details. You will have to book well in advance.

There are a few great parks nearby including the Black Swamp Wetlands, to explore. And if shopping is your thing, you are a short walk from plenty of the Cleveland shops.



Or overlooking Raby Bay, there are several food venues including Fiction too.



The train departs Cleveland regularly (mostly every 30 minutes), but do check out the train timetable when you plan your day out. Get train timetables and plan your journey here.
