Slacks Creek Environmental Park is a lesser-known destination for bushwalking or mountain biking. Despite a signed slip rail along Loganlea Road, many passers-by are unaware of the trails beyond.

This protected pocket of nature plays an important role in local conservation. It is home to a high number of butterfly species, in particular, the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.

Visitors can enjoy two trails, an 850m walk through Melaleuca swamps and a 230m open forest trail. In addition to a gorgeous wooden boardwalk, the Melaleuca Circuit offers several signs promoting awareness of resident butterfly species.

Despite its close proximity to the main road, the thick bushland creates a cool, shaded and tranquil setting.

There are no toilets and only minimal parking. However, both of these facilities can be accessed at the park across the road. Alternatively, Slacks Creek Environmental Park links to the local cycle route. Visitors can extend their journey by parking and cycling/walking from the Kingston Community Centre (Meakin Road, Slacks Creek).
