What propelled me to write this article was the wonderful service I received from Danielle the shop owner of Busy Kids (0434 426 155 - email: email@example.com) at Shop 24 (Target end of the shopping centre) Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre, corner Police & Jacksons Road, Mulgrave. She's quiet, unassuming and just wants to help. Her approach is one of offering good customer service without being pushy. In a world where one doesn't get good service all the time, it was a pleasant experience to be able to chat to the shop owner and get this personalised caring approach.
In Waverley Gardens shopping centre only since August this year (2015), I have no doubt a few people have walked past, their eyes clearly focussed on Target at the end, and not even noticed the premises now housed a kid's store instead of the shop that used to be there. Her store is definitely worth visiting as there's a huge variety to choose from, which covers kids from newborn to 10 years of age. Mind you, if there's still a big kid living inside of you, there are a few temptations there to draw you in, no doubt. Loving superheroes, I found the Spiderman, Batman and Superman money banks very tempting. They were unique, well made and could easily be part of a quirky home decor without being used as piggy banks.
Busy Kids is a family owned business run by Danielle and her husband Richard and their son also helps out at the store. Coming from a Division 2 nursing background, Danielle sources goods with a lot of thought and care that gives the child more than just play value. She mentions that she has a group of great suppliers to work with and there's something to please everyone. She had a good range of interactive and educational toys, and a little something to suit everyone's pocket.
There's a range of prams and cots and baby toys and if there's something you want not in the store, she has a book filled with merchandise you can choose from that she can order in for you. If she doesn't have it, voice your needs and she will definitely look into it for you and see if she can source it from somewhere else.
Though a toy store as such, she has prams, car seats, cots, baby monitors, baby accessories (and lots of other newborn baby goods), photo frames, party goods, toys, personalised name plates and so much more. Some of the brands she carries are ABC, Little Tykes, VTech (toys), Vee Bee, Valco, Quinny (prams), Safety 1st, Maxi Cosy (car seats) and Euro Trike to name a few.
Speaking of Euro Trike, she's one of the rare toy suppliers in Waverley Gardens to have the Euro Trikes you see in the picture above. They're 'balance bikes' for kiddies before they learn to ride a bike. They wheel it around with their legs but still have to learn how to balance in readiness for the big boy or big girl bikes when the time comes. They cost around $80 to $90 and no doubt those little kiddies who can't wait to have their big grown up bikes, can have fun in the meantime, playing a balancing act.
Operating shopping centre hours, make sure you drop in and say hello to Danielle for that special gift, be it for birthday, newborn, christening or Christmas. If she knows what you're looking for, she's very helpful with suggestions, location and perhaps alternatives you may not have thought of. Her mobile number is there (on her card and in this article) for customers to call anytime they need help looking for something in particular. You can also simply visit just to feed the child in you. I certainly enjoyed checking it all out even though I'd already settled on something to buy.
