Outdoor sensory play, animals and structured activities
Make memories with your younger child at this fabulous outdoor playgroup. Hosted by Busy Butterflies Education and Care Service, these sessions are held every Thursday, 9am-12pm.

Children up to five years of age will delight in the diversity of free play opportunities and structured activities available. The venue is fully-fenced, allowing children to safely explore the grounds. The most popular activity is certainly the farm animal interactions. Under supervision, children can pat the resident pigs, goats, chickens and ducks. Eager visitors can even sit and cuddle a guinea pig!

The play yard is divided into several themed areas, including a mud kitchen, construction, cubby house, musical wall and nature play area. In these sections, children can freely explore and engage in imaginative play. More traditional play structures, such as climbing and soft play equipment are also positioned throughout the yard.

Themed structured activities vary weekly but always encourage the development of cognitive and motor skills. Examples include arts and crafts, play dough, loose parts construction etc.

Parents and carers of babies can relax under gazebos and choose from boxes of age-appropriate educational toys and books.

Towards the end of each playgroup session, supervisors re-group the children and read a story or sing songs. A shared morning tea is then provided, with children permitted to select items and serve themselves.

Entry is by gold coin donation. Registrations are required to ensure sufficient staffing, food and activity resources. Interested parents and carers should visit the playgroup's closed Facebook group.
