Busstop Expresso

On a recent catch-up with friends, it was suggested we meet up in Cooroy at their favourite café, Busstop Expresso . What a unique and pleasant surprise to find an old school bus converted to a coffee shop just outside of the town.

Busstop Expresso Cafe, Mary River Road, Cooroy

Owner, Rob Noy who was a previous fly-in-fly-out mining manager saw the prospect of creating a space at the front of his property and among the trees that would have a calming atmosphere for those seeking a good cup of coffee in peaceful surroundings.

Table and chairs are scattered around the area, some under umbrellas and if you wish you can move chairs to a more secluded area while sipping your coffee and being present with your thoughts. Bench-style seating is also available at each end of the Bus, if this is what you prefer.

Seating inside the old bus is also available

Rob has plans to create walkways around the property with periodic seating established so those seeking solitude can enjoy nature’s beauty whilst there. Also in the pipeline are Saturday or Sunday afternoon music get-togethers involving local artists and their varied musical prowess. He is presently building a larger café area to accommodate more clientele.

Walkways and seating are soon to be erected in the beautiful bushland on the property.

While my friends and I were there, many people stopped by to pick up a coffee to go, while others preferred settling at the tables and chatting with friends. Rob said that he has had lonely people coming out to the Café, either needing solace or just needing a chat with someone who can listen to their woes, without judgment. Rob is a people person and is happy to give his time to whoever requires it.

Naughts & Crosses anyone? Have a game while waiting for your coffee.

After rain, there may be an occasional mosquito that can be found at any place near a creek, but Rob has that covered with bottles of repellent on tables for use. I also noticed a large Naughts and Crosses wooden board near the Bus Door and was pleased to see those waiting for their coffee giving it a spin.

Coffee is ground on the property and sold to customers

The Busstop Expresso is a perfect place for a coffee shop as quite often those in towns have seating close together, with chairs bumping each other as you pull them out, and patrons having the ability to hear other conversations. If you need privacy, then you need space.

Honey, Condiments and Sauces from local artisans is sold here as well.

Coming from the north, The Busstop Expresso can be located by taking the Old Bruce Highway to Cooroy. It was actually very pleasant to remove myself from the busy highway onto a road with minimal traffic and also to remember all the shops and road stores that I had long forgotten was on that road, once the highway was built.

The Busstop Expresso is open from 5.30am to 1.00pm Monday to Saturday and 7.00am to 1.00pm on Sundays and can be located at 201 Mary River Road, Cooroy. Telephone 0456 789 198.
