As mentioned in a recent article, Hinterland Adventure Playground , the little historical town of Cooroy, is one of my favourite weekend destinations to head to. Cooroy is located 129km north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway and 22km west of Noosa Heads. The original town name was Coorooey, named for Mount Cooroora, which in turn took its name from the local aboriginal word 'kurui', which locals believe may mean possum.

Just outside Cooroy on the Mary River Road, we perchance came across the Busstop Espresso , a repurposed bus in fine condition, seemingly placed in the middle of nowhere, but appearing with perfect timing for our mid-morning coffee break.

I just love discovering these funky, unusual under-the-radar coffee/cafe outlets - secret gems that only the locals seem to know about. The delightful Busstop Espresso is open Mondays to Fridays from 5.15am to 1pm and weekends between 7am and 1pm, the outdoor rustic fireplaces ready at a moment's notice to keep the early birds cosy and warm.

Weekend visitors are able to purchase their household eggs between Fridays and Sundays, limited to one dozen per family per day. Besides an excellent caffeine fix from Cooroy Coffee Roasters, a variety of delicious family pies, bottled Rose and Turmeric honey; cake, bread, avocado pears plus potted plants were all available for visitors to browse and purchase on the day of our visit. Lemons and limes were free to those who wanted.

The health benefits of Busstop Espresso's own bees' Rose Honey are plentiful. Used regularly, Rose Honey is excellent for heart and digestive systems, blood purifying as well as giving relief to sore throats and respiratory infection symptoms. Rose Honey added to tea gives off a stunning aroma, adding to the tea-drinkers feel-good endorphins. We acquired some Rose Honey to take home and I am very excited to get 'stuck' into it!

Turmeric Honey benefits are also profuse and include anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Both honey and turmeric have been used for centuries as natural remedies for a variety of ailments including improving digestion, blood circulation, metabolism and immune system. It can also help reduce high blood pressure, sleeplessness, stress, and prevent production of cancerous cells. Busstop Espresso also include black pepper into their Turmeric Honey as this assists with absorption into the body of curcumin, the key active ingredient in turmeric.

Busstop Espresso is a popular stop off for bikies, locals going from 'a' to 'b', day-trippers and weekenders looking for that unique and serene spot to sit back and enjoy the treed surrounds. Indoor seating is available for those looking to escape the chill in the air and our doggy pals are more than welcome to visit too.

Bookmark the Busstop Espresso on the fringes of Cooroy - you will be welcomed with open arms and leave with a smile and a spring in your step and possibly a bottle of honey or three. An absolutely delightful spot to visit!
