Children growing up in the Sunshine Coast Biosphere enjoy a spectacular and diverse natural backyard … a backyard to learn from, explore and play in. Opportunities for nature play, environmental education, eco-activities,
citizen science and recreational activities are plentiful, ensuring our children enjoy more time in the outdoors.

With school holidays approaching, the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens are once again providing an adventurous backdrop for fun and creative activities, connecting children with nature in celebration of the arrival of Spring.
Registration for these age specific workshops is ONLY $10 per child. Early pre-purchasing of tickets is essential as these programs always sell out quickly.

Children will learn the names and petals of the flowering plants at the Botanical Gardens and beyond. Lillhiana will help children to

Children will love playing with fibres and learning to weave a teeny-tiny basket to hold all their Spring treasures at the
Spring Weaving Holiday Program. Carly will teach simple techniques for creating a bespoke woven bowl to take home.

Who would love to be a Koala Detective? I know I sure would. Award-winning young environmentalist, Jarrah Small and fauna ecologist, Clancy Hall, will take children aged 7 and older on a
Koala Detectives walk, with a very special guest. One of the University of Sunshine Coast’s detection dogs, who has been specially trained to find koala scats (poos), will be joining the Koala Detectives on their walk. How koala-cool is that!
Learn all about koalas and their habitats, and how to identify feed trees, scratches and scats.

Participants will get to wet felt and craft their very own spring flowers from fleece at the

Learn all about frogs ...
Come and learn all about frogs with Trevor from ECOllaboration. Children will listen to frog calls, go on a habitat hunt, discover some of the species that call the Botanic Gardens home and then make their very own froggie habitat models out of Lego at the
Lego Frog Habitats Workshop.
