Autumn is the prelude to winter, the season when the days get shorter and the temperatures cooler and what better time to connect with nature to learn bushcraft, than with the Autumn Bushland Holiday Program. Children and families will absolutely love these seasonally inspired workshops held in the spectacular Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden and led by Sunshine Coast's leading nature play facilitators.

Children will learn how to whittle, how to make paint from the earth and even how to weave a basket, plus so much more. Registration to the Bushland Holiday Program is essential as spaces are limited and these workshops are sure to sell out super fast. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required for caregivers.

🍂 TUESDAY 4 APRIL : WHITTLER'S GUILD @ 9am to 11am, $10 per person
AGE 8 plus years.

Wood and blade, hands and heart.
Participants will learn the slow and focused art of whittling to create their very own bows and arrows, spears and wands, mallets and tent pegs - a practical and peaceful art form.

🍂 WEDNESDAY 5 APRIL : EARTH ARTS @ 9am to 11am, $10 per person

Ochre, ink, pigment and paint making and mark making tools.
Children will create colour using seeds, berries, rocks and minerals from the earth to paint on natural fibres of melaleuca, hessian and even on their own skin.

Autumn is a time to tend the lungs. Participants will make bubble blowers of bamboo and beads, then blow-breathe-blow to spread the bubbly happiness through the Botanic Garden. Explore and look for bubbles in the lagoon and discover which animals could be making them.

Explore the forested trails of the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden to find the ultimate treasure - a journey stick - your very own stick to guide you on your walk today and every day. Children will get to saw, sand and decorate their very own journey sticks along the way, to keep for all future journeys.

A botanic treasure hunt with a clay twist!
Children will go on a hunt to find the tree that matches their chosen leaf, then form a small bowl from air drying clay and press their favourite tree leaf into it.

All activities will start at the Whipbird Shelter, adjacent to the Whipbird Village nature play area in the lower part of the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden, unless otherwise specified.
