Busaco Trail

When the restrictions were in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were compelled to rediscover our own neighbourhoods. In my case, I got to explore running trails outside of the nearby park oval and the residential blocks. I came upon , which goes through part of Lane Cove National Park and loops back. To run any distance, you can just run the loop, but what I would recommend is a 5-kilometre running trail which starts and ends at the Link Road entrance to Macquarie University.
To do the 5-kilometre loop, start where the Link Road entrance to Macquarie University intersects with Culloden Road. Run along Culloden Road northwards and at the intersection with Waterloo Road, use the second exit to stay in Culloden Road.
At the intersection with Talavera Road, turn left or use the first exit at the roundabout. Run along and at the end of the road, turn right to Busaco Road. At the end of Busaco Road, enter Lane Cove National Park via . is unmistakeable but it slopes down to the left, in case a further clue is needed.
At the end of , you'll come upon Brown's Waterhole Track. It is a paved track. Turn left at Brown's Waterhole Track sloping up towards the motorway. This goes through a tunnel under the motorway. Follow the bike path until it connects with Vimiera Road and turn left at the footpath. It is hard to miss the signage showing the bike path to Macquarie University.
Continue on the path until it forks. Use the right fork leading to the children's playground within Waterloo Park. Run around the Waterloo Park oval and exit near the baseball field towards Waterloo Road. At the roundabout, continue straight to stay in Waterloo Road. In the next roundabout, use the first exit to turn left to Vimiera Road. Go straight along Vimiera Road and turn left at Epping Road. Go straight along Epping Road and turn left at Culloden Road towards where you started.
This circuit is approximately 5 kilometres. If you'd need more trail to run, you can just redo the loop or get creative and go around Macquarie University. The shops are nearby and so is the public transport interchange.
