is probably known more for its "Movies By Burswood" outdoor cinema in the summer months, but it is also a great spot for a fun family day out. You can get there through the main Crown Casino car park or there is a small turn off from Great Eastern Highway before that if you are coming from the west. Obviously there is a playground which is always a hit with the younger children. There is plenty of lawn either in the sun or under tall, shady trees to lay your picnic blanket and have a relaxed lunch by the river.
Once lunch is over there are a large number of things to do. If you have a ball or frisbee that's always an option. You could stroll along the riverbank, watching water skiers or looking for tadpoles. As you do this you will have great views of the city across the river. You can even learn about Western Australia's history with a few statues and plaques along the way.
The kids (young and young at heart) can have fun playing hopscotch.
You can also take a walk away from the river, over to the fountain and gardens.
The fountain is beautiful and there are more statues with information about the local history. The kids enjoyed hearing about what happened in "the olden days" as we walked around. On warmer days you will usually find an ice cream van in the carpark. If you don't bring a picnic you could always check out the food court in the Crown complex. In autumn there are also lots of leaves to play in!
Whatever time of year this is a great park to visit. It's great for family get togethers, birthday parties, a fun day out or somewhere to go for an hour if you have appointments in the city and want some fun before or after.
