One of only a few towns in South Australia, Burra has a rotunda in the main market square in the centre of town. Surrounded by hotels, shops, cafes, bakery and the Visitor Information Centre, the rotunda and market square become the centre of the universe for the old copper mining town of Burra.
The town centre is also the starting point for the local Burra Passport Trail, the Johnny Green Trail (formerly Heritage Trail) and the longer Goyder's Footstep's loops running north and south from the town.
In addition, Burra also hosts the long distance Heysen and Mawson Trails, so don't be surprised to see hikers and bikers wandering through the town as well.
With plenty of accommodation choices from restored railway stations to old bakehouses and banks, as well as the former miner's cottages, you will never go short on options.
