Out with the old and in with the new @ Burning in the Vines
The Yarra Valley is well known as winery country. And this year to mark the end of the yearly harvest and winter pruning, Rochford Wines in Coldstream is hosting the inaugural event aptly named Burning of the Vines.
Burning of the Vines is a very old tradition which originated in France in the 19th century, in which cuttings are collected from the vineyards and are then burnt in a huge bonfire in aid of making way for the beginning of the new harvest, which will then be fully cleansed by the burning of the old crop cuttings.
This spectacular event will be held at Rochford Wines in Coldstream on the 27th October 2018, commencing at 3pm and running through until 10pm. The bonfire will be lit when sunset falls.
Burning of the Vines at Rochford is free entry to all, but Rochford do ask that attendees register online here to calculate sufficient numbers for catering purposes.
Food and beverages will, of course, be on offer to purchase, which will include Rochford's wonderful wines as well as other delicious delights from White Rabbit Brewery, Milk the Cow and 5 Seeds Cider as well as a variety of food trucks being located on site.
