I'm a spottily employed journalist with a love of books and "genre" movies living in Brisbane. I have no blog as it's much too self-aggrandising.
Amnesty International's Avalon Group in conjunction with Avalon Baptist Church are presenting Burn a free concert by local musicians Loosely Woven.

Burn will take place at the Avalon Baptist Church on Sunday 31 July at 4pm and will include scrumptious free refreshments at interval.

Led by Loosely Woven's charismatic Wayne Richmond, the concert will be a light-hearted acoustic romp through classic tunes, Aussie greats and favourites of rock.

Featuring a widen-ranging crew of 24 musicians and vocalists, using everything from violins and harps, to accordions, keyboards and drums, this is a performance to be remembered.

Though the concert is free, donations will be taken for Amnesty International to further support their most recent campaign: Community is Everything.

Event organiser Gerd Hollander said it was the support of the people of Pittwater that made Avalon Group what it is today.

"These concerts are always a lot of fun for people of all ages, with a great cabaret atmosphere and scrumptious food provided by people associated with Amnesty and the local Baptist Church," Mr Hollander said.

"Donations collected will support the important work Amnesty does for oppressed people," he said.

"Amnesty International Avalon Group is at present working on the Community is Everything campaign which is to find support for Indigenous young people at risk of suicide or imprisonment.

"We also send letters and try to help innocent people who face huge injustice including torture, discrimination, violence, imprisonment and death.

"Come down and help us fight for the rights of some of the world's most vulnerable people."
