When you think Bridge Road restaurants you probably think about the side of Bridge Road with all the restaurants. Now think of the poor other side, it has restaurants too you know.
Burmese House is located near the corner of Bridge Rd and Church St near Richmond Town Hall. I went there on a whim with friends because it looked like a nice place and my friend likes places with clean floors.
The wait staff were warm and friendly as was the atmosphere of the restaurant. The menu is shorter than what I'm used to and there is a noticeably absent dessert section. We didn't order immediately and that cost us a bit of a long wait time until they asked us again if we were ready to order - luckily we had a lot of TV to chat about.
We ordered chicken masala, beef masala, mixed vegetables with chick pea curry, stir-fried chicken with cashew and chilli, roti and coconut rice. All of it delicious, especially the coconut rice and the roti, which were both fresh. They were good portion sizes so we didn't need entrees. There is a good selection of vegetarian options.
It feels slightly reassuring that the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant so you always know how your food is being cooked. I noticed there is an upstairs area, so there will always be enough room for anyone who wants to just pop in for dinner.
According the website they also offer cooking classes and if I could cook food this tasty, I might just try it out. Happy eating guys.
