The highlight of the festival are the single fin surfboard competitions on Saturday and Sunday, showcasing professionals, locals and juniors demonstrating their surfing skills and vying for first place in the Juniors, Men's and Women's categories. The first event on Saturday is held at Burleigh Point, reminiscent of the 1970s Stubbies Classic surfing series. Surfer Joel Parkinson, winner of the 2017 and 2019 Single Fin Festival, will be back this year looking to take out another win this year. At this year's growing festival surfing legend Mark Occhiluppo, surfers Creed McTagget, Harrison Roach and Tai Graham will be competing. Burleigh's own world tour up-and-comer Liam O'Brien, Women's big wave charger Felicty Palmateer, Junior surfers Pascha Luc-Light and Liliana Bowery will also be competing. But let's not forget the locals who are giving the west a good run for their money as Queensland Champions Rico Haybittle and Chez Bos, will be demonstrating their skills for everyone young and old to admire.
