As 29th of January is our anniversary, my partner and I decided we would go out for dinner, which is something we rarely do during the week (our anniversary fell on a Thursday). We had been curious about Burke's On Main for a while, which was previously a bakery before it was turned into a restaurant. When booking at Burke's On Main, please inform them if the dinner is for an anniversary (and what year it is) because they will decorate the table accordingly:
My order was the lemon curd - Alaskan bombe, which is a meringue on top of cream and ice cream with a lemon curd gooey centre. However, some advice for eating this dessert; head straight for the centre, don't eat around the edges or you'll become too full and miss out on the lemon curd section.
My partner ordered the chocolate soufflé, which was had a lovely rich flavour and moist texture.
Also, make sure to mention whether you would like a table inside or in their small outside area. Usually, busy nights for Burke's On Main are Friday and Saturday, however on Thursday it was quiet with only three or four tables occupied. This is my personal preference as it allows for attentive staff and the meals were cooked and served within a reasonable time-period. The personnel of Burke's On Main were very attentive, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was delicious.
