A roadhouse without town
For years, Burke & Wills Roadhouse has become a strategic stop for travellers located on the south of Four Ways junction. Because of its location, this remote business in North West Queensland is always busy and quite often you will see camper vans and trucks lined up at its parking bay. Located on Lot 51 Burke Developmental Road Four Ways Queensland, this roadhouse is just halfway between Cloncurry and the Gulf of Carpentaria. You can't see much after or before the roadhouse but scrubs and usual outback view. Due to the vast remoteness, Burke & Wills Roadhouse becomes an essential stop for locals and travellers to break up any journey or for fuel and food.

Burke & Wills Roadhouse has had several owners. The new owner of this iconic little roadhouse has been busy putting a fresh new look and atmosphere in the roadhouse, such as the outback scenery painting on one of the walls outside the roadhouse, as well as developing the caravan park behind the roadhouse as part of their services.

Some dongas for travelers

As you step under the rustic log pergola, you can see a small wooden chalkboard placed before the entrance to the roadhouse. On the chalkboard are some motivational words that would light up your day after a long journey.

There are some outdoor seating areas with wooden tables. Inside the roadhouse were plenty of tables and chairs a stall with locally made gifts, such as soaps, Burke & Wills Roadhouse's children t-shirts, and much more. For travellers who need some inspirations for their next journey, they also provided some pamphlets about tourists sites and events nearby.

Little gift shop

As we were waiting in line to order our lunch, we browsed their menu which was written above their serving counter. On their menu was typical a roadhouse menu, with homemade sandwiches, pies and bigger mains from $9.50 to $ 32.

There is a cold beverage vending machine or you can have a bottomless cup of coffee or cup of tea or hot chocolate drink for only $2.50. You just had to pay on the checkout service for your hot drink than one of the staff you a cup for your drink.

Considering it is located in the middle of nowhere, the food and drink prices at Burke & Wills Roadhouse are very reasonable. Even their fuel price was not much different from the city price.
