Burger Republic has reopened its doors to patrons after a bout of renovations. The newly refurbished restaurant on King William Road is looking great. A wall now separates the kitchen from the dining area. The bar counter is to the left-hand side. Tables and chairs are set out nicely inside with a couple along the footpath. The decor gives it a relaxed ambience, and I like it.
As you enter, feel free to find a table you fancy. Then have a look through the menu that's waiting for you on the table and place your order at the counter when you're ready. Your meal will be brought out to you in no time. Paolo was very friendly and efficient and his service could not be faulted.
I ordered the gaucho burger with fries. It was lovely. Especially loved the beautiful brioche bun, juicy Angus beef and crisp golden onion rings. The fries for me were slightly on the saltier side but that's just a matter of preference. I also had a berry apple juice.
My friend ordered the Mexican salad bowl with crumbed mushroom and the chilli cheese fries. The crumbed mushroom was cooked very well and not wet. The chipotle cream was just enough to warm your mouth but not cause an explosion. The salad had some crunch in it. However, an added bit of smoothness from an avocado would have made it 100% for her. The chilli cheese fries, on the other hand, were "to die for" (quoting her exact words). The ranch sauce complements the chilli con carne well making it that little more special.
To finish off our meal, we both had a milkshake each. I had the large peanut butter milkshake while my friend had the regular lime milkshake. I like all things peanut butter and this was just delightful for me. The lime milkshake might be missing a bit of lime flavour, but was nice and light.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves dining at Burger Republic on a gorgeous sunny Wednesday afternoon catching up for two hours. It is currently open from 12pm to 9pm everyday, except Mondays. Its menu will soon be expanding to include breakfast and cakes as well. Will I return to Burger Republic again? Yes.
