Nestled in the mist-prone Mount White next to renowned restaurant Saddles, is the new Burbank Garden Centre, which already has a centre open in Erina Heights along Erina Heights Road. The new centre in Mount White had their grand opening in My 2023, and sits opposite Saddles Mt White, looking across the valley. The buzzing restaurant is down the hill from the tranquil garden centre that plays host to a range of plants and homewares on a smaller scale to its sister nursery at Erina Heights, but in a delightful barn and set up that showcases what it has to offer. The new Burbank Garden Centre is located at 20 Ashbrook Road, on the same grounds as Saddles restaurant. The garden centre is in a shed at the top of the hill, overlooking the restaurant and a lake with black swans, and the valley that is shrouded in mist in the cooler months, and on the day I went, had pops of autumnal colour in the distance against green hills and fog-covered skies.




Whilst the garden centre at Saddles is smaller than the one at Erina Heights, it has just as much charm and character, as it sells plants and homewares, and has a delightful set up and décor. This vibrant and inviting garden centre is nestled amidst the bush, and it feels like it has been there forever, not just a few weeks or months, as it sits in its environment so well, and there are wooden tables in between the restaurant and garden centre where people can get takeaway from Saddles and then sit, overlooking the lake and the mountain across the way. Being connected to a restaurant makes Burbank unique, especially as it has a sprawling open area and walkway that make access between the two easily accessible, and it is the sort of place you can spend at least half a day at – exploring the garden centre and wilderness around it, then having a meal at Saddles, before making a final purchase before you head home. These sorts of places give visitors more – something beyond an eating experience or nursery, as you can do several things in one place. It makes going out for the day interesting and I am sure each day, each week, each season will have something different to offer to visitors to the restaurant and garden centre.







The Saddles Burbank also has workshops for various crafts running over the next few weeks as well – the classes and dates, as well as the details to book in are below:

- Indoor Plant Bowls workshop on Saturday the 10th of June 2023.
- Cactus Garden Bowl on Sunday the 18th of June 2023.
- Popsicle Bird Feeder on Saturday the 24th of June 2023.
These workshops, according to the Facebook Page, are great for all ages, and everything you need is supplied at the workshop. It will be interesting to see if they run more, and what they run, as the workshops here and at Erina Heights are always based around plants.

I enjoyed my visit here – it is somewhere that needs to be experienced, and a place that is tranquil – the restaurant suggests a loud, buzzing atmosphere but step outside and into the garden, and up to the garden centre, and everything is peaceful.

The Facebook page is currently the main source of information, as at the time of writing, it looks like the website is still being built – with any luck, once that is completed, there will be more details.
