If a festival has been occurring annually for twenty-two years, you must assume the organisers know exactly what they are doing in bringing a fun-filled weekend event to the public. The is, this year, being held at the Bundeena Oval over the weekend of 15 to 17 September.



The festival kicks off with a new art exhibition at the Bundeena Community Hall on the Friday from 7.30pm. A "Wine and Dine" theme of drinks with small snacks and musical entertainment will create a relaxed atmosphere for all who attend. During the night an auction will be conducted of Archibald Prize Winner Garry Shead artist's proof print named "The Arrival". The Arrival is the first of Garry's famous D.H. Lawrence series. Money raised from this auction will go to the Nepal Hope Disability Centre .

Other artists featured on the night are Oliver Mesrobian (MO) paintings and jewellery and Matteo Dal Vera, photography . Entry is $20.00 per person and there will be a raffle and door prizes. Special guests include Madeline Tynan who will give the Opening Speech, Aboriginal Acknowledgement of Country MC / Aboriginal Opening Ceremony and music by Mademoiselle Hulk and David Tunnnicliffe.



For anyone wishing to continue after the auction event, they can join others for the After Party at the Bundeena Bowling Club to be entertainment by Binx ft Jonathan Pease.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the festival begins at 10.00am and concludes at 4.00pm. There are so many activities to do each day that you will want to attend both so you do not miss out on anything. A brief list of the day's activities are as follows:



  • Art Exhibition in the Community Hall will be on all day both Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00pm. Entry is $2.00 per person. You can also vote for the People's Choice award.
  • From 10.00am entries in pottery, which has been made from raku or heavy clogged clay will be placed in a pit to be bisque fired during the Saturday event. At 2.00pm on Sunday these items will be exhibited and some will be for sale.   • On Saturday a Dog Show will be hosted on the main oval. Registration by a gold coin begins at 9.00am with the show commencing at 10.00am. Prizes are for the best dressed, fastest dog, best trick and dog/owner look-alike.
  • Also on Saturday the following competitions will be run from the Bundeena Preschool:
  • Best baked goods, that is cakes, biscuits, pies, breads, scones, preserves etc. This event runs for half an hour from 10.00am at the Bundeena Preschool. All goods will be donated to the Great Afternoon Tea Fundraiser
  • Best yarn, thread or fabric. Entrants are encouraged to use their imagination when creating their entry.
  • Best Pet -bring in your favourite animal, that is rabbit, guinea pig or chicken, to be judged as the Best Pet; however, all animals must be caged
  • Make an animal from a vegetable and win a prize
  • $5.00 will get your child into the Kids Art Workshop and Story Orating. You are required to register on line at www.artofliving.com.au prior to the event. Time for this workshop is 11.00 am to 12 noon. Other art workshops will also be conducted and children can take home a painted canvas.



  • From 1.00 to 3.00pm the main oval will also be having three-legged races, sack races, thong toss, wheelbarrow race and throwing of paper airplanes, which will have everyone laughing with joy.
  • Great Afternoon Tea will commence at 2.00pm just outside the Community Hall Kitchen. There will be a selection of T2 teas and scrumptious homemade afternoon delights. Proceeds from the afternoon tea will go to the continuation of the Festival. Music will be provided by David Tunnicliffe and Desiree Regina.
  • A light Saber Show for children of eight years and older from 7.00pm on the Saturday will be held. Entry is free. This is a great opportunity to show off your Star Wars skills.
  • Markets, rides and food stall will be present around the community oval on Sunday with a variety of food vendors, arts and craft stalls and information booths.
  • During Sunday you will be entertained by a number of Sydney based bands including the headline act of King Tide, the eclectic Mr Bamboo and Bundeena's local favourite Sally King and Sametribe.



  • Although you may wish to drive to this event, Cronulla Ferries are doubling their ferry services running every thirty minutes on both Saturday and Sunday with Tynan Motors providing a coach to transport visitors from the Bundeena Wharf to the festival. Major sponsors for this year's event are the Sutherland Shire Council and Tynan Motors together with a host of Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors from local and Shire businesses.

    As this is a jam-packed weekend event, you may like to take the advantage of camping on site. More information can be located on the Website or Facebook pages. This is definitely an event not to be missed.
