I'm a kiwi living on the Sunshine Coast working 8-5, five days a week. When the weekend rolls around, travel and new experiences are top priority!

If you find yourself near Bundaberg, consider following the pilgrimage path of the Genius Australian Ancestors who stumbled upon this fine use of excess molasses.

Top marks for Bundy Rum in sourcing possibly the most energetic rum enthusiasts you could find to lead you through their factory.

The Distillery tour itself, shows you not only where and how this you beaut ausie product is currently being produced, but also covers how they discovered it and how it was made.

You'd better practice your Hazzars & Popicots because you will need them on this informative, interactive and most importantly refreshing tour.

After all that "learning" the brain deserves a rest and what better way than to sample some of the product at the onsite bar.
The tour is not the cheapest but if you book online you get a 10% discount $22.50 per adult - keep in mind this includes two drink samples (which are full size drinks) at the bar following the tour. I was sober driving, however, it's fair to say my husband's enthusiasm for the tour was high after all his sampling!

Too Cute to Leave Out
Our Girl Waiting Patiently

We went Easter weekend and since group sizes are restricted to 50 people you are required to book in advance and tours run every hours from 10am-3pm Mon-Fri, but only until 2pm on Sat, Sun & Public Holidays.

As a rum drinker ourselves (novices ones at that) this was right up our alley. But, if you not a fan of rum (shun the non believer!) consider going to the Bundaberg Barrell (ginger beer factory).

Here there is a free self guided but interactive tour which has free sampling of products. We unfortunately ran out of time for a visit but my parents have been and said it was definitely worth a visit.
