If you are heading south for the holidays and looking for that all important rest stop on the way, you can't go past the Bunbury Farmers Market. Just off the Forrest Highway, before you hit town and just after the Shell Petrol station, just keep driving and make your stop here. There is a fantastic café where you can get a fresh coffee, pastries, amazing pies, sausage rolls and more.
Wander through the front doors and you are taken on a magical path of fresh food heaven – where 90% of the fresh fruit and veg was in the ground 2 days earlier. Stopping here also supports local famers with between 70-90% of produce coming from WA (depending on the season). Around the first bend of the store you come across a smoothie bar (where I always go) to get your choice of smoothies, or make your own flavour. So amazingly good! Keep meandering through and you will find a butcher, dairy products, fresh flowers amongst all the fresh produce. You can stock up for your destination or grab something for dinner when you are returning home. The options are endless and delicious.
So rather than stop in some random service station, make the Bunbury Farmers Market your preferred destination and support local business in the process. You will love it, trust me. Stay safe on your travels.
