Sun 26 Aug 2012
Bulimba blossoms in August. Last year saw the resurrection of the Bulimba Carnivale after a five year hiatus, as the newly branded
Bulimba Festival under the auspices of RSL Queensland. It's back for 2012, bigger, bolder and brighter, on Sunday 26 August so come along and see Oxford Street come alive.
The billboards are up and the countdown is on. Bulimba Festival is another of Brisbane's hugely successful grass roots community festivals with something for everyone and blessed with a perfect river position and the passion of the organisers. Last year 35,000 festival goers filled the popular Oxford Street strip with colour, enthusiasm, appetites, fashion and the sounds of people enjoying their community and all it has to offer.

Festival Highlights
The Long Lunch
The Long Lunch is the Festival's signature event and big fund-raiser. Bulimba is one of Brisbane's best dining precincts and the chefs from 3 of the leading restaurants (Bistro Nine, Delizioso on Oxford and Bijou by Vie Susse) will be serving up 3 course meals with wine and champagne. All this delicious dining will set you back $125 per person. Only 300 seats are available, 100 for each of the restaurants, so you'd better book early. Lunch will be served from 12 noon with seating from 11.30am and the dress code is smart casual.

Bookings can be made online , at the participating restaurants or via email.

Entertainment
Two stages will be in operation throughout the day and some big names are headlining the musical entertainment this year – former Hunters and Collectors frontman Mark Seymour, the ever popular Wendy Matthews and local singer/songwriter Thomas Calder aka The Trouble With Templeton. There will also be cooking demonstrations and fashion parades showcasing Oxford Street style.
Kids Corner
Where would community festivals be without something for the young and the young at heart? Bulimba Festival will create a special Kids Corner in popular Bulimba Memorial Park. There will be the usual assortment of rides, clowns, face painting and an animal nursery, supplemented by dodgem cars and beach lagoon water balls. Now that sounds like fun. It also provides a great opportunity for tired and hassled parents to take a bit of a break while the little ones are entertained.
Market Stalls
Colourful market stalls from local and specialty businesses will be selling a wide variety of wares including fairy floss, flowers, fashion, cupcakes, kids clothes and coffee. You can see the businesses who've already signed on for the ride
here but it's not too late for you to nab a spot for your business to showcase its wares. You can
register your stall here .
