With the push for removing plastics from our environment and the good work people are doing around our waterways, you would think that we are winning the war against plastics. Sadly, this is not the case although persistence will win the day.
Over the last two years, massive amounts of plastic have been removed from Bulimba Creek. On Sunday 1st March 2020, the Ocean Crusaders are hosting their
Annual Clean Up Australia Day Paddle Against Plastic starting from the boat ramp at the end of Aquarium Avenue in
Hemmant and once again, supported by the
Port of Brisbane. This is an area where a lot of debris can be found.

Ocean Crusaders is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2010 and who specialise in cleaning waterways and remote islands. Their goal is to educate people in the need for looking after and cleaning up our oceans.
If you would like to take part in this worthwhile event, please pre-register. All information required for the day will be provided through the
Eventbrite registration page.

If you have a Kayak, SUP or Canoe please bring it along; but if you do not, you can hire one of Ocean Crusaders' for a small fee. Understandably, Ocean Crusaders need to maintain their fleet and this fee goes to help in this regard. If getting out on the water is not your thing, do not worry, volunteers are also needed to audit the debris as it is brought in by the paddlers.
To finish off a job well done, a barbeque and cold refreshments will be provided. This is an event for the whole family. For more information, please contact Ian on 0412 932 808 or email info@oceancrusaders.org
