Those that know me often snigger at my lack of knowledge concerning Brisbane's geography. The trouble is, I love my corner of Brissie so much, that I rarely stray from the Bulimba Bubble. The upside is, of course, that when friends are looking for somewhere to go in my 'hood', they know that I will probably have tried and tested any new hangouts and will have an opinion to share.

My latest Bulimba coffee morning destination is French Twist in Corio Street. It's a bit off the beaten track, the other side of Bulimba Memorial Park , but once you've found it, I'm sure you will be back for more.

Why do I like it so much? I love the French ambience they have created with a sunny deck covered with pots of flowers and twisted wrought iron chairs and tables that transport me to a café in the South of France that has always remained my ideal café experience.

Just around the corner is Park Bench Espresso Bar , which is also a firm favourite for a 'quickie'. On a sunny, crisp winter's day, nothing beats it for a hot chocolate and a flick over the paper.

My old favourite, The Nook , is still a great place to hang out with pre-schoolers but as my life has moved on with children starting school, so has the lives of the owners and I understand it is about to change hands. Watch this space for an update on how it goes.

So go on, where's your favourite coffee spot and why?**
