It may sound childish but Build-a-Bear really can be a lot of fun for all ages. I think it's just something about having a cute furry friend to cuddle which brings out the appeal in everyone's inner child.
Build-a-Bear is a good place to take the kids for a treat, if they've been extra good in school, won a soccer tournament or you just feel like giving them a treat.
What you do is you get to pick out your favourite toy, stuff them full of fluff and put a special heart inside them. You pick a heart, make a wish on it and place it inside your special toy in the special heart ceremony.
One of the most fun things to do after their toy is stuffed and fluffed, is letting your kids pick out their favourite outfit for their new friend. There's a huge range of costumes from princesses, chefs, sailors, suits, knights in shining armour and casual day clothes.
All bears, tigers, Elmos, bunnies, kitties, turtles and wolves and other soft toys get their very own birth certificate as well before they leave the store to their new homes.
It really is a lot of fun for kids, or even a rag-a-band bunch of teenagers, and everyone gets a cute and cuddly friend out of it. For older kids it can be used as a party event spot (for large groups book in advance) but as there's no-where for kids to stay in the area, unless you're willing to move everyone, it's not the best place for a full blown party.
All in all, it's fun for a special event but beware buying the bears and accessories can really start to add up. None-the-less, it's still worthwhile to come home with a new soft toy friend.
