A Buffet Breakfast is a treat that many people like to enjoy. Whether you are staying at a hotel and it is part of the package, having a family celebration or perhaps it is just the perfect way to start a big day. Whatever the reason - and even if there isn't one - there is a good selection of Buffet Breakfasts to be enjoyed around the city. These days there is often a chef on hand to cook up eggs just the way you like it or to whip up a breakfast masterpiece in front of you. For healthier options there are also juicer stations, smoothie makers and a larger range of fruits and cereals to start the day on a lighter note.

Although the Buffet Breakfasts on this list are all located at hotel restaurants, I have contacted them to ensure they are happy to welcome Canberra locals as well as hotel guests.
All gave a resounding "Yes, come on in!".

Crowne Plaza ** (CBD) has a daily buffet breakfast in their Redsalt Restuarant to enjoy 7 days a week. Their buffet includes an Egg Station to cook your eggs, a Barista Station to make your morning coffee, a juicer to make your own fresh juices and hot and cold breakfast items to choose from. Price: Full Buffet Breakfast is $32 per person, Continental Breakfast $25 per person, Children (aged 6 - 12) are $15.

Hyatt Hotel Canberra (just outside the Parliamentary Triangle) also offers a Buffet Breakfast in their Promenade Café between 6:30am - 10:30am daily. Their Buffet includes an Egg Station and hot and cold dishes to choose from. This historic hotel is the perfect way celebrate a special occasion or start the day in style. Price: Full Buffet Breakfast $39 person, Continental Breakfast $34 per person. Children between the ages of 7 and 12 are charged half price for buffet meals. Children under 6 are complimentary and children 13 and over are charged at adult prices.

Rydges Capital Hill (Forrest) has a hot Buffet Breakfast 7 days a week in their Figtree Restaurant between 6:30am - 10am weekdays and 6:30am - 10:30am on weekends. Their hot breakfast includes all the usual hot breakfast items, with a range of daily chef-created options to choose from. For Hotel details see here .
Price: Buffet Breakfast is $28 adults and $15 for children.

Mantra on Northbourne (CBD) host a Buffet Breakfast in their Stock Kitchen and Bar between 6:30am – 10am weekdays and 7am - 10:30am weekends. When I contacted them for more information on their buffet, the friendly staff explained they have a hot selection with eggs any way and all the breakfast favourites including hash browns, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and the Chef's Daily Creation. There is also a cold selection such as juices, smoothies, cereals, yoghurt, fruit and bakery items. For Hotel details see here .
Price: Full Buffet Breakfast is $26 per adult and $11.50 per child. You can also choose just Hot Only for $20 adult or Cold Only for $16 adult.

Novotel Canberra (CBD) has a Buffet Breakfast in their One Restaurant, between 6:30am - 10:30am weekdays and 6:30am - 11am on weekends. When I contacted the Novotel I was told the buffet includes cereal, cut fruit, juices, pancakes, pastries, banana bread, mini muffins as well as hot items including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast. Price: Full Buffet Breakfast is $30 or you could choose to have Continental or Hot Only breakfast for $23. Each adult eating may have a child join them for free, so 2 adults can have 2 children join them at no extra cost. If you do have more children the cost is then $12 per child.

Mecure Canberra (Braddon) has a daily Buffet Breakfast in their Courtyard Restaurant, serving hot and cold breakfast items including ham, eggs, hash browns, sausages, beans, toasts, juices and sweet pastries. The Breakfast Buffet is open 6:30am – 10:00am weekdays and 6:30am – 11:00am weekends. For Hotel details see here .
Price: Buffet Breakfast is $24 per adult. One child per family eats free (up to 12 years old).

Pavilion on Northbourne (Dickson) also has a delicious Buffet Breakfast in their Atrium Bar and Restaurant. There is the usual hot breakfast buffet fare as well as a range of cold yoghurts, fruits, cereals and pastries. The restaurant is open 6:30am – 10:00am weekdays and 7:00am – 10:30am weekends and public holidays. For Hotel details see here .
Price: Buffet Breakfast is $25 for adults, $12 for children, age 12 and under.

If you are after a Continental Buffet Only, then visit the Parklands Hotel (Dickson) for an enjoyable breakfast including a selection of cereals, fruit compote, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juices, breads and preserves, tea and coffee. At the time of writing (June 2016) they have a Continental Buffet Breakfast 7 days a week, with hot breakfast items off the menu Monday to Friday only. Wherever you visit around Canberra, a Buffet Breakfast is an enjoyable way to start the day and make you feel like you are on holiday - in your own city. We are fortunate here in Canberra to also have such a huge variety of quality breakfast cafes to choose from, however if you are after something more substantial, the buffet breakfast is a popular option.

It also doesn't have to be a calorie-laden breakfast to be able to enjoy the meal with friends - the healthy options look equally as delicious. Where will you try out this weekend?
