Budok’s Filipino Kitchen

One of the food outlets in Chinatown Plaza food court , Budok’s Filipino Kitchen specialises in Filipino cuisine. Specials are offered along with their regular menu items for those who desire some variety.

The prawns in their Sizzling Prawn with Chilli Garlic Sauce were cooked just right, and the vegetables added extra texture to the dish. The omelette that served as a base for the dish was light and fluffy, and had a nice golden-brown colour. For those concerned about the level of spiciness, it is suitable for those not used to spicy foods.

We liked that the flesh of the chicken in the Chicken Adobo with Boiled Egg was succulent and easy to separate from the bones. The sauce had the peppery flavour that we expect from an Adobo dish and included onions for a bit of crunch. A small serving of salad provided a fresh element to the dish.

The Sizzling Grilled Squid had a delightful char-grilled flavour though we thought some of the squid tentacles were a bit tough. While not apparent from the dish’s name, the body of the squid was stuffed with vegetables to provide extra flavour. A lemon wedge came with the dish to add a hint of tanginess.

Their Sizzling Grilled Milkfish had tender flesh that was set off nicely by the crisp skin. Compared to the Sizzling Grilled Squid, the charred flavour was more pronounced. The fish had a few bones so it is advised to take some care when eating it. Like the Sizzling Grilled Squid, the dish came with a lemon wedge.

The flesh of the Crispy Pork Hock was not tough and was contrasted nicely by the crisp crackling. It was particularly tasty when eaten together with the chilli sauce that diners can take to accompany their dishes. Be aware that the chilli sauce has quite a potent spicy kick. Many of their main dishes come with a serving of rice, making them a complete meal.

The portion size of the Crispy Chicken Skin was generous and can easily be shared. The chicken skins were not chewy and the degree of crunch was what we expected. While seasoned plainly, they still had a delectable savoury flavour.

The food court where this outlet is located has plenty of seating space. The ambience is that of a casual dining restaurant. If you are looking for a good place to enjoy Filipino cuisine at Chinatown, consider giving Budok’s Filipino Kitchen a try.
