You can't beat the humble pasta shell. It is cheap, quick to cook and you can include it in a wide variety of recipes for the whole family. For many people, like me, I don't like to spend hours in the kitchen preparing dinner, so recipes that are cheap and easy are always a winner in our household! These are 3 recipes for 3 occasions - for the family dinner table, for the lunch box and a romantic seafood dinner for two. Which one will you try tonight?
Easy Family Dinners: Spaghetti Bolognaise
Ingredients: 500g lean mince
1 brown onion, diced 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 capsicum, diced 8 mushrooms, diced 400g tinned tomatoes with basil and garlic 3 Tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 cup water Spaghetti to serve
In a fry pan, add oil and cook garlic and onion until soft. Add mince and cook until browned.
Add vegetables and cook until soft. Add tomato paste and tinned tomato with herbs.
Add 1/2 cup water and simmer for 30 minutes.
Boil spaghetti for 10 minutes and drain. Mix into bolognese and serve.

Romantic Meal: Spaghetti with Seafood Marinara Sauce
250g frozen prawns, defrosted
3 frozen Basa fish fillets, defrosted and chopped into chunks
1 brown onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
400g can of crushed tomatoes, salt reduced
1 and 1/2 cups of chicken stock
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried chilli flakes (add more if you like it hot!)
1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
Spaghetti to serve
Heat oil in a large frypan and cook onion and garlic until soft. Add the smoked paprika, chilli flakes, tomatoes, stock and water. Bring the mixture to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add prawns and fish to the sauce and cook for 4 - 5 minutes or until cooked through.
Add lemon juice and parsley and stir through. Serve on top of cooked spaghetti.
Enjoy this recipe with a glass of crisp, white wine. Cheers!
