Buderim Village Park's New Playground

Since its initial opening in 2012, the Buderim Village Park has been a creative work in progress and today is a popular green oasis in Buderim for locals and tourists to come together to enjoy a picnic, to learn to cycle, to kick a ball or just to sit back to take in the spectacular panoramic views.



What once was a vacant 3.4 hectare piece of land has been transformed into an inviting recreational park for the whole community to enjoy. The newly completed Buderim Village Park Playground marks the finishing touches to this revitalised green community space and is perfect for children of all ages, from babies to primary school children.



The remarkable new rainforest-themed playground offers the best vantage point of the coast from its 6.5 metre high tower, but the proviso, of course, is that you have to climb it first. The majestic tower features multiple slides, hammocks, sensory play and climbing elements.

Inspired by local wildlife, other features throughout the colourful playground include swings, a seesaw, sand play, a tipi carousel, a lorikeet springer, a log climber and a tunnel, all of which provide a delightful selection of play experiences, including climbing, swinging, rocking and hanging. The nest seat swing is ideal for multiple users of all abilities and suitable for most ages, including parents. The new adjacent shelter also has equal access tables and barbecue facilities.



The new Buderim Village Playground includes a shade sail (much needed for our sunny days), contemporary park furniture throughout, new pathways and child-friendly landscaping, ideal for little legs to run and play or to show off their bike riding skills.



Walking along the paved pathways, look out for the Lone Pine, planted as a living memorial and legacy of the 2015 Anzac Centenary. This Lone Pine is a descendant of the Gallipoli Lone Pine, a solitary tree on the Gallipoli Peninsula, which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine in 1915. It stands as a symbol of the courage, resilience, teamwork and sacrifice shown by the Anzacs, particularly at the dawn landing at Anzac Cove and the Battle of Lone Pine during the Gallipoli campaign.



For parents looking for a caffeine fix before descending on the playground, the Coffee Club is conveniently located on King Street alongside Buderim Village Park and is open every day. Visitors will be happy to hear that there is ample parking in and around Buderim Village Park, making it easy to bookmark this great spot for a visit. The cherry on top is that the whole of Buderim Village Park is doggy, on a leash, friendly too, so no need to leave 'Buddy' at home when everyone else in the family is having fun.



Writer's verdict: The Buderim Village Park Playground is fabulous. We took our 2 year old grandson and he absolutely loved it. My only 'gripe' is that the existing slides are seriously supersized for toddlers, who struggle to reach the platforms to enjoy the slides. Otherwise, well done, Sunshine Coast Council, this new addition to Buderim is proving extremely popular.
