You can't be blamed if in your head you break out in song and hear Split Enz singing 'I see red, I see red, I see red'. The Buderim Ginger Pride Rally at Federation Square - corner Swanston and Flinders Streets on Saturday 29 April 2017 - 11am to 4pm, will do that to you!
Only in its 2nd year, Redheads and Coppertops of Australia will make this one of the hottest events on the social calendar. Set to be bigger, better, and more fiery than the last, this country's largest gathering of gingers and redheads details are as follows.
Armed with banners and flags, the rally and its supporters will be marching the streets of Melbourne, painting the town red and celebrating their uniqueness. There'll be free ginger beer, vigorous games of 'Ginger Beer Pong' and a kid's ginger activity zone.
If you happen to be single, there's an event for you too. Single Events Melbourne will be playing 'Coppertop Cupid' with rounds of Ginger Speed Dating.
Melbourne band The Vanns will once again provide the entertainment, along with Luize Scott and X Factor standout, Brentwood joining the line-up.
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is the official charity partner of this event and 50% of funds raised from merchandise sales will be donated to the Foundation. This charity advocates the safety of children; care for children who have experienced serious violence, and works to reduce incidences of bullying and cyberbullying.
A 'Kids Zone' will also be hosted by the Foundation and you'll find interactive and entertaining activities for children there, including face painting and balloon sculpting.
The Red and Nearly Ginger Association (R.A.N.G.A) who are the peak special interest body for Ginger issues will also be supporting the festival once again. For updates on the festival, keep an eye on the Event Page.
