Perfect Petals On Show
What better way to welcome the Spring season than to attend this year's Buderim Garden Festival! If, like me, you adore plants and flowers then you will not want to miss the spectacular blooms on display. The Festival is on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October at the Buderim War Memorial Hall (cnr Main and Church Sts, Buderim). The colour theme for 2016 is blue and the theme for the event is "Buderim Blooms." The grand opening and presentation of awards will be at 2pm on Saturday 15th October.
Entries for the Spring Flower Show include floral decorations, plants, vegetables, hanging baskets, bonsai, cut flowers, and novelty arrangements. Even children are encouraged to enter a separate novelty section using vegetable items. There will be trophies and cash prizes for the winners. You can see all the entries on Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 4pm.
The Festival's Plant Market showcases a wide variety of plants for sale by specialist growers. Examples of the types of plants that will be available include Gerberas, Orchids, Bromeliads, Staghorns, Geraniums, Begonias, and Succulents. Other items for sale include jams and soaps. The Festival, sponsored by Manawee Garden Centre and Buderim's Bendigo Bank, promises to be the best one yet.
Entry to the Buderim Garden Festival costs $15 and gives visitors access to all the open gardens, the Hall, and the plant market. Entry to the Hall only costs $2. To view the six Open Gardens you will need to purchase your Festival ticket from the Memorial Hall during the Festival weekend or from Buderim Post Office, Buderim News, or Manawee Garden Centre.
