Are you up for the challenge? The Buderim 9 Challenge has had seven successful years and 2018 is promising a totally new course, with the start and finish locations being relocated to the Buderim Wanderers Football Club in Ballinger Road, at the southern foothills of Buderim.
With more than three hundred cyclists taking on the challenging nine hills over a seventy-six kilometre course in three hours or less, the Buderim 9 Challenge course needed a route change, to accommodate the growing popularity of this extreme cycling challenge.
The Buderim 9 Challenge is to climb all nine hills in three hours or less, paving the way for cyclists to join the exclusive Buderim 9 Club. Riders must cycle the hills according to the event map with all registered riders receiving a certificate to indicate the number of hills accomplished.
Besides being an extreme physical challenge, The Buderim 9 Challenge Ride is also a much-needed fundraiser for local cerebral palsy organisation, CPL - Choice, Passion, Life. Cyclists are encouraged to raise as much pre-event donations as possible for this worthy cause, possibly achieving the ultimate bragging rights to having your name appear on the prestigious Argon Law perpetual trophy, as the Highest Fund Raiser of the 2018 Buderim 9 Challenge.
In addition to this fabulous attainment, fundraisers will also go in the draw for the opportunity to win a cycling trip around the French Pyrenees, sponsored by Velo Tours and valued at $4,500!
Buderim 9 Challenge Ride proceeds support those living with cerebral palsy and related physical disabilities and all donations contribute in a small, but positive way to many families living on the Sunshine Coast. More than $24,000 was raised in 2017's Buderim 9 Challenge Ride, making this a very successful charity 'pedal'.
Registrations for the Buderim 9 Challenge opened in early October, but riders still have until Wednesday 12 December to get last-minute entries in and to secure a spot in the Challenge.
Registration costs are only $120, which includes event entry and an event jersey (unfortunately, it appears that the cut-off date to receive an event jersey has already lapsed).

Serious cyclists will love the challenge of the Buderim 9 Ride up nine of Buderim's toughest hills; and the adrenaline rush of riding downhill too. Become one of the elite and add your name to the exclusive Buderim 9 Club, by participating in the thrilling 2018 Buderim 9 Challenge Ride.
I love that this isn't a competition but a personal challenge to cyclists to get up and over as many of the tough hill climbs as you can in three hours. I also love that it's an event that really means something to those living with a disability. They can participate too and all of the fundraising goes to make their lives a little easier.
