Happy Days Records presents
Buddy 'n' Roy - Together 'n' Alone featuring the music of never to be forgotten rock 'n' roll idols
Roy Orbison and
Buddy Holly.
The producers of
Buddy The Concert, Johnny Cash The Concert, and
The Class of 59, invite you to take a trip down memory lane into the rock and roll days of the fabulous 50s and the swinging 60s.
This faithful tribute opens with a blistering set of hits from
Roy Orbison including heartbroken ballads and bluesy rockers like
"Only the Lonely"(US
#2 & AUS
#5 in 1960),
"Running Scared" (US
#1 & AUS
#5 in 1961),
"Crying" (US
#2 & AUS
#1 in 1961),
"Mean Woman Blues" (US
#5 & AUS
#1 in 1963) and
"Oh! Pretty Woman," (
#1 in 1964) among many others by Australian performer
Jon O Nicholson .
The second set pays homage to musical icon
Buddy Holly, who was considered one of the finest pioneers of rock and roll. With hit songs like
"That'll Be the Day" (
#1 in 1957),
"Peggy Sue" (
#3 in 1957),
Oh Boy! (
#10 in 1957),
"Maybe Baby" (
#17 in 1958) and
"Rave On!" (
#37 in 1958), you'll also hear many more that spanned over his short but legendary career.
Starring 26 year old
Scott Cameron as
Buddy Holly, the similarities between
Cameron and
Buddy Holly are remarkable. He delivered a stunningly realistic performance of the legendary icon in previous productions, including the international smash hit musical
Buddy ,
Buddy The Concert, Elvis Meets Buddy and more recently
The Class of 59.
Quite simply, the story of
Roy Orbison could not be told without
Buddy Holly. Both native Texans,
Orbison grew up in the towns of Vernon, Fort Worth and Wink, whilst
Holly was born and bred in the nearby town of Lubbock.
Having performed at the same local venues and shopped at the same guitar shops, the pair also wrote and recorded at the same New Mexico studios,
Norman Petty Studios which would go on to impact the future of music.
The majority of Buddy's noteworthy recordings were crafted within those studio walls, and after his tragic 1959 death,
Norman Petty added instrumentation and production to many unfinished
Holly tracks.
Roy Orbison would also craft his signature tune there,
'Oh Pretty Woman', which became the soundtrack to the 1990 romantic comedy
'Pretty Woman' starring
Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.
Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison have both been inducted in to the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The pair first collaborated on Holly's 1957 debut album with
The Crickets which featured two
Orbison covers.
Holly went on to record many of
Orbison's songs in his lifetime.
Proving that the demand for rock and roll is very much alive, be prepared to
'Rave On' in over two hours of non stop hits spanning three incredible decades of music for
Buddy 'n' Roy - Together 'n' Alone!
