The Happy Buddha by @hernan.lopera

Proudly presented by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and Buddha's Light International Association of Victoria, the Buddha's Day & Multicultural Festival is recognised as a significant event in Melbourne's calendar. People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to come along and celebrate our multicultural society and commemorate the birth of Buddha.

Over two jam-packed days, the 25th-anniversary program will showcase a wide range of special events, art installations and activities.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused widespread disruption and loss in our community and globally, the inaugural Light It Up ceremony will launch the 2021 Buddha's Day & Multicultural Festival by celebrating light overcoming darkness and hope over despair.

Lion Dance by IG: @clementcsh

A dramatic Lion Dance will herald in a spectacular animated light display that will spread across the facade of Federation Square and drench the Main Square with an animated story of the life of Buddha against a Kaleidoscopic background of floral and artistic elements.
