Zhu-Lin Buddhist Association of South Australia will celebrate the birthday of Sakyamuni Buddha and Bath Buddha Festival on the 19th of May. All over the world Buddhists will celebrate Vesak Day(Buddha's Birthday) based on the lunar calendar. It is usually observed on the first full moon in the month of May. This day signifies the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Buddha, which are all said to have happened on the same day.
Bath Buddha festival commences at 9 am at the Zhu-Lin temple where Buddhists and non-Buddhists can participate in bathing Buddha and offer prayers. The act of bathing Buddha personifies the cleansing of one's body, mind and inner impurities so that we can open ourselves to the wisdom of Buddha. It also aids in eliminating karma, in turn helping us become the supreme Bodhi.

Other activities on the day include a vegetarian food charity sale on the grounds of the temple. Numerous food stalls will be selling a variety of vegetarian Asian-style cuisine to help raise funds for the construction of the pagoda.
There is an old Chinese saying that says " A temple is not a temple without a pagoda". Pagoda is a principal part of any Buddhist temple and the temple has been fundraising for the tower since the past 8 to 10 years.
An International Family Day ceremony will also take place on the day where children will present flowers to their parents and masters to show their gratitude and wish them well being.
Anyone who wants to visit the temple on other days to offer prayers can visit every weekday from 10 to 2pm for worship. On Sundays it is open from 9 to 3pm for chanting followed by a vegetarian lunch.
