1. Surf at Noosa: Book a surf lesson here. This is an incredible beach to ride your first wave. If you are a seasoned surfer, these breaks have to be ridden at least once in your life.
2. Buy something at the Eumundi Markets : Head to these markets on a Wednesday or Saturday morning- open in rail, hail or shine. Eumundi is a gorgeous, rustic little town with boutique shops and a fantastic pub. There are so many beautiful things at these markets- handmade jewellery, plants, cheese, bongo's, clothing, artwork - just to name a few.
3. Caloundra Music Festival: An eclectic mix of artists gather around October every year in Caloundra for this festival. The vibe is laidback and the festival is ridiculously entertaining. The artists that flock to this festival is not the only thing that make this a highly recommended event - I have to mention the venue. It is in one of the best locations- right next to the beach.
4.Soak up
the Sun on Mooloolaba's Main Beach: This beach had to be added to the list. On a hot summer's day there isn't anywhere else you'd rather be - soak up the sun on the white sandy beach, and cooling off in the turquoise waters.
5. Hike Mt Coolum: The 360 degree views to be enjoyed from the top of this mountain are well worth the hike and effort. The walk up is short, but steep. Standing 208 meters high, it will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours for moderately fit people - return trip (or under 8 minutes if you are super fit and want to beat the track record).
6. Whale Watch - Mooloolaba: Join these majestic creatures between the months of June and October for a few hours whilst they take the whale highway north or south. The sheer size and beauty of this creature is enough to leave anyone speechless.
7. Enjoy the scenic views of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland : Montville (and Maleny) are well worth the trip to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Montville is a very picturesque town with slight German influences. Here you will find many galleries, homemade craft shops and cafes. The views of the coastline extend for miles and miles. In Maleny, take a walk through the boutique shops or have a coffee overlooking the beautiful Glass House Mountains!
8. Have a picnic in the parklands surrounding Bulcock Beach - Caloundra: This park has brilliant views of the beach extending over to Bribie Island and around to Golden Beach (basically beautiful waters as far as the eye can see). Cool off with a quick dip in the ocean- either Happy Valley (please note that this wave beach is not patrolled) or Bulcock's Beach (which is calm and patrolled). Enjoy a walk on the boardwalk which will take you over the rocks and headland to King's Beach.
9. The Big Pineapple - Nambour: Any of those kids growing up in the late 80's/early 90's will remember this South East Queensland icon. Sadly, the Big Pineapple has been passed through a number of hands and hardships. Things are starting to take off again here. Enjoy the cafe, a train through the plantation, animal farm, rainforest walk, and the largest all weather markets on a Saturday and Sunday.
10. Enjoy a drink at the Ettamogah Pub : This fabulous looking pub is a must see/do. Filled with character and cartoon themes, this pub is part of a chain (other pubs in Sydney and Western Australia).
