Bub's Fish and Chips has an extensive menu offering a smorgasbord of fresh and cooked seafood, including:
the usual 'fish and chip' options - crumbed, tempura-battered or grilled,
salt and pepper squid,
jumbo prawn cutlets,
garlic chili prawns,
fresh prawns, and
If you can't choose, just go for one of Bub's fantastic platters - they are big and offer plenty to go around. I was visiting with my extended family and two platters and two smaller dishes was more than enough to feed the eight of us.
While the seafood is definitely worth 'writing home about' - the other star at Bub's is their specialty sauces.
Mango and Mint
Coriander and Mint
My favourite sauce is the Coriander and Mint, with the Mango and Mint a close second. There's something about adding a dollop of mint to the seafood that just takes it to a whole other level - and really 'lifts' each bite.
If you're lucky enough to get a table on the balcony facing the water, settle in and soak up the view and atmosphere.
You can watch the trawlers coming in and out of the bay, some even offloading their catch right before your eyes. The kids will enjoy looking over the railing into the water to spot the little fish swimming around just below the water's surface.
Bub's Fish and Chips do not take reservations and is a cash only venue.
