Biscuit By The Beach
I think I arrived a little late to this party, as BSKT Cafe has been open and incredibly popular for quite some time, however I only went for the first time recently. Now I'm hooked and try to go at least once a week - I love the sense of community they have and everyone chats freely and feels at home.
It is a cafe and restaurant, located next to the Nobby Beach Surf Club. To get there you come off the Gold Coast Highway on to Laverack Road and follow till you get to the beach - you cannot miss it. It's always very busy around this area, so you may have to park a few minutes away and walk.
They serve wholesome, fresh and organic food which is locally sourced and cooked, prepared and presented to a high standard including many gluten free items. You can see the menu here. The coffees are really good, I have my usual mocha and it's always creamy and tasty - I often find it to be grainy or unbalanced at other cafés.
I have had breakfast there a few times and it is always good - I love the "eggs your way", for just $10 as that's more than enough for me and it's great value. You can also add a couple of extras such as avocado if you are feeling extra hungry. On a recent visit for two breakfasts and a mocha it came to $27.
The service I have always found welcoming and friendly, even when busy - which is most of the time. You are always greeted and waved off with a smile, and the staff are happy to talk through menu items and help with getting water and high chairs or whatever you may need.
Their overall message is that of well-being and healthy living - so to put their money where their mouth is, they offer a full timetable of beginner, mum-n-bub and intense yoga classes, delivered by expert teachers on site. You can find out more and see the timetable here. Pretty cool eh? I am certainly going to give it a try.
Being in such a central Gold Coast position, many people use it as a base for walking groups or bike riding groups. You have Mermaid Beach to the left and Miami Beach - leading to Burleigh Heads - to the right.
They have indoor seating, plus outside seating in three sections, tables on the road side, bar style seats on the right hand side and also seating out the back - where there is a great toddler play area. So there is plenty to keep everyone happy and exactly where they want to be. They also have a secure bike park and a casual waiting area. I think they have thought of everything.
