Fri 28 Nov 2014 - Sat 29 Nov 2014

The Brunswick South Art Show began in 2009 as a small fundraiser for the local Brunswick South Primary School. Today, it is an iconic annual event, well attended by locals and artist alike, and includes festival entertainment, workshops as well as a stunning collection of emerging and established artists' works. The majority of profits raised go directly to the Brunswick South Primary School with a small percentage going back to the contributing artists to assist them in sustaining their practice.

The art on display and for sale include paintings, photography, wearable art and jewellery, children's group art, sketches and watercolour. All entrants are in the running to win prizes with judge Ron Reynolds, a renowned artist in his own right, selecting the First Prize and the Highly Commended prizes. Second and Third prizes are voted by attendants as 'people's choice awards'. The prizes for 2014 winners are:• First Prize – $400
• Second Prize $250
• Third Prize $150
• Highly Commended (x4) art supply vouchers
If you're an artist, there is still time to enter, as entries have been extended to 24th November 2014. Simply head to to complete your entry form. All entries attract a $20 entry fee. If you're more interested to view the work than create it, mark these dates in your diary:

Opening Night
Friday 28 November, 6.30pm – 9pm
This catered event will be opened by MP Jane Garrett and is your first chance to see the art and support the Primary School. The opening night tickets are $20 and can be purchased at here . Tickets include campaign on arrival and finger food all night.

Art Show /Family Day /Arts Festival
Saturday 29 November, 10am – 4pm
The main event happens on Saturday. You can learn something new with workshops on card making, drawing, puppetry and cartooning, or if you're after a more passive experience, try the beer garden and soak up the sounds of the live music on stage. There will also be a range of sideshow alley games, food stalls, vintage clothing stalls and second hand book stall. The kids can get in on the action and create their own masterpiece with art and craft for kids running throughout the day.

In 2014, special guests Nuholani Polynesian dancers will join the event to bring you a taste of Noelani Hula dancing, and Melbourne Djembe will bring the beats with their dancers African Drumming performances and workshops.

So be sure to get along to the Brunswick South Art Show to connect with the community, support the artists and above all, support the Brunswick South Primary School.
