The Brunswick South Art Show began in 2009 as a small fundraiser for the local Brunswick South Primary School. Today, it is an iconic annual event, well attended by locals and artist alike, and includes festival entertainment, workshops as well as a stunning collection of emerging and established artists' works. The majority of profits raised go directly to the Brunswick South Primary School with a small percentage going back to the contributing artists to assist them in sustaining their practice.
The art on display and for sale include paintings, photography, wearable art and jewellery, children's group art, sketches and watercolour. All entrants are in the running to win prizes with judge Ron Reynolds, a renowned artist in his own right, selecting the First Prize and the Highly Commended prizes. Second and Third prizes are voted by attendants as 'people's choice awards'. The prizes for 2014 winners are:
• First Prize – $400
Second Prize $250
If you're an artist, there is still time to enter, as entries have been extended to 24th November 2014. Simply head to www.brunswicksouthartsfestival.com/submit-work to complete your entry form. All entries attract a $20 entry fee.
If you're more interested to view the work than create it, mark these dates in your diary:
