Dedicated to the life and ministry of the great Saint Francis of Assisi and featuring three tracks from the hit 1975 film of the same name, Buddy Comfort's 2001 album Brother Sun Sister Moon is truly a hidden gem of the music world. From the second the church bells of Assisi begin to chime in Distant Bells (Track 1), stress and negativity melt away to be replaced by a state of pure relaxation and contentment. Comfort's smooth, warm voice hooks the listener and the lyrics highlight not only the honest communion with nature that the Saint strived to encourage in his followers, but also the basic beauty of the world that surrounds us, instilling a sense of purpose that comes from understanding that we are essentially part of nature and that nothing in nature is useless.

Although it is odd to write a review on an album that is already 15 years old, to not do so would only contribute to the obscurity it does not deserve. Whether the Lord Himself has blessed the album as an instrument of His peace is uncertain, but it definitely comes across as one, for no album does more for inner peace and spiritual wellbeing than Brother Sun Sister Moon.

Brother Sun Sister Moon can be purchased from Amazon , Fishpond or Buddy Comfort's website .
