Looking for something recession-friendly to do this weekend? Visit the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on any Friday or Saturday night for some free live music. Come down and relax in the living room like setting and enjoy innovative music including rock, jazz, R&B, world music, pop and more.

For more than 10 years, the BAMcafé Live free music series has been featuring a mix of artists from Brooklyn and beyond. Enjoy a night of free entertainment with the relaxed and diverse crowd in BAMcafé's gorgeous open space that features high cathedral ceilings, large windows and exquisite lighting.

Shows typically kick off at 9pm, and reservations are not accepted so get there early to claim your seats. The BAMcafé features a full drink and bar food menu, and there are plenty of bartenders on staff ready to serve. You can spice up your night with one of their specialty drinks like the Jalapeno Margarita, or choose from delicious tasters like the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Skewers or the Buttermilk Batter Frito Misto Plate featuring the chef's selection of fried seafood.

Founded in 1861, BAM is America's oldest continuously operating performing arts center. BAMcafé Live is situated in BAM's Lepercq Space, a lounge and bar area in the Peter Jay Sharp Building located at 30 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
