Tea and treaties. Coffee and cake. Sweet and savoury snacks. High tea, Devonshire tea or afternoon tea.
If I'm speaking your language you'll want to check out Brookfield House, where you can enjoy a beautiful High Tea experience.
Behind the unassuming Victorian façade of this historic home in Camden, Brookfield House comes alive as a vibrant and whimsical English-style tea house.

The first thing you’ll notice when you step inside is the bold and vivid wallpaper furnishing each room, giving each its own identity. You can choose between the Garden Room, Blue Room, 1896 Room or the Peacock Room (located upstairs) when you make your booking.
My party of three was seated in the bright and airy Garden Room for our High Tea. Another notable feature of Brookfield House is the vibrant and eclectic tableware which adds to the experience. As you have to choose which high tea you would like ahead of time (when you make your booking), all you are required to do when you arrive is to sit back and relax and choose what you would like to drink.
The tea menu is extensive and has been developed by one of the owners who has studied a Master of Tea. And for those who don’t drink either tea or coffee, there is a range of other hot and cold drinks on offer.

Similarly, there are various high teas to choose from. To view the

It wasn’t long before our drinks were served followed by the first item from our high tea of choice - The Palm Royale High Tea.
The scones were freshly-baked and delicious
The Palm Royal High Tea includes a serving of two freshly baked scones with locally made jam and cream. The scones were beautifully soft and warm and were quite possibly the nicest scones I have ever eaten.
Left - The Palm Royale High Tea vegetarian edition Right - the savoury treats
Next, the impressive tiered birdcages containing our high tea arrived.
The Palm Royale High Tea (we chose the vegetarian version ) includes three savoury treats and three sweet treats. (Please note this birdcage contains two servings.) The savoury dishes included the Art Deco shell pie filled with cheesy broccoli, a cucumber and cream cheese finger sandwich and an arancini ball.
Left - Poached Pear cake Right - Flamingo tart
The sweet treats included the Flamingo tart which was filled with rhubarb and pistachios and topped with mousse, a poached pear cake with a hint of honey, and a raspberry cheesecake with a popcorn fascinator.
All of the food was delicious with the sweets being delightful to look at as well. We certainly did not go home hungry. The Palm Royale High Tea was reasonably priced at $58 per person.
For those who don't like to go home empty-handed, Brookfield House also boasts a shop where you can buy tea and coffee, teaware, homewares, jams, chocolates and much more.
Brookfield House is open from Wednesday to Sunday 9 am to 4 pm. Bookings are recommended as they can book out months in advance. To make a booking
