The Brookes Oration - so named after Sir Wilfred Brooks, the grandfather of Alfred Deakin, the second Prime Minister of Australia, and whom Deakin University was named after - is an annual event that first began in 2006, and was established to motivate pensive thinking about corporate Australia's contribution in the worldwide community.

Recent oration topics at Deakin University have included business ethics and the Australian lifestyle, but this year's will be based around a subject that is on everyone's lips and minds - gender equality and diversity.

The oration will be conducted by Lieutenant General David Morrison AO (Retd) who was awarded 2016 Australian of the Year for his dedication to the importance of gender equality, diversity and inclusion.

As always, the Brookes Oration is open to public, and completely free to attend, but bookings are recommended as seats are limited.
