Broadway in Bryant Park

Home > New York > Theater
Experience Broadway, without paying Broadway prices.

This summer, Bryant Park is opening its lawn for performances from the Great White Way through its aptly named Broadway in Bryant Park series.

Sample the variety Broadway has to offer right now in an almost eccentric mashing of productions. July 29, for instance, features the kid-friendly "The Lion King," next to the rock musical "Next to Normal," which delves into themes of mental illness.

Regardless, the hour-long shows should provide a welcome diversion during your lunch break, or something you can plan on playing hookie to, as the series offers highlights from the city's long-running shows, such as "Chicago," to Broadway's newest babies, such as "Fela!"

To help you plan accordingly, here's the full lineup for the two-month series:

July 8
STOMP," "Promises, Promises," "In the Heights," "Nunsense"

July 15
The Phantom of the Opera," "Billy Elliot," "Memphis" (winner of this year's Tony award for best musical), "South Pacific," "Radio City Christmas Spectacular"

July 22
Chicago," "A Little Night Music," "Falling for Eve," "Rock of Ages"

July 29
The Lion King," "The Addams Family," "Wicked," "Next to Normal"

August 5
Avenue Q," "Fela!," "Million Dollar Quartet"

August 12
Mamma Mia!," "American Idiot," "La Cage Aux Folles," "West Side Story," "Mary Poppins"
