Located close to the well-known Britannia Roundabout in Adelaide, the family-owned Britannia Hotel is a good place to enjoy a wide range of pub food. Apart from the dishes on their menu, they also have a few dishes offered as specials each day.

One of the dishes that were offered as a special, the handmade pasta in their Fettuccine with Chicken, Prosciutto and Mushroom, was cooked just right with the chicken giving the dish a delightful meaty texture. Topping the pasta was shaved zucchini to add a bit of freshness and the shaved Parmesan cheese added a bit of saltiness without overwhelming the other ingredients. The passata sauce the pasta was tossed in also had some chilli to give the dish a bit of a spicy kick.

The hotel offers a decent range of steaks, which comes accompanied with a serving of chips and salad. We went there on a Thursday night for their Steak Night offer and it looked like we were not the only ones. For $22, you get either a T-Bone or Porterhouse Steak served with chips and salad, and a drink. The Porterhouse Steak we chose had the degree of char-grilled flavour we desired. We added mushroom sauce for a bit of an extra cost. The sauce had a good amount of mushrooms to give it its characteristic flavour.

Another dish that was offered as a special during our visit, the Pulled Pork Burger had a generous serving of juicy pulled pork that was contrasted well by the onion ring and tangy coleslaw. Accompanying the burger was sweet potato chips fried to golden brown with the slightly sweet flavour that makes them enjoyable to eat.

To help sate our hunger while waiting for our main dishes, we ordered a serving of their Garlic Bread. The bread slices were of a good size and not over-toasted, and there was enough garlic butter to make them deserving of their name.

Besides the $22 Steak Night offer on Thursdays, the hotel also offers $12 Schnitzel on Wednesdays and $18 Whiting on Fridays so dining there on weeknights is quite affordable. Parking is very convenient because there is a car park at the back of the hotel.
