I'm a mother of four with two coeliac children. I'm always on the lookout for great gluten-free spots around Brisbane and feature gluten-free cooking in my blog: coeliacfamily.blogspot.com.au I'm also a muso and enjoy live music around town.

Line up to see lavish LEGO land
If you've got kids, then you've probably got LEGO. It's a bit of a love hate relationship - we love how it keeps the kids occupied and stimulates their creativity, but we hate picking it up, sorting it out, standing on it and sucking it up the vacuum cleaner.

Lego bricks
Thousands of LEGO bricks for family fun

No matter your opinion of LEGO, one place where it's sure to create a smile will be the LEGO Fan Expo, hosted by BrisBricks on Saturday and Sunday 15-16 June. If you've never been to a big LEGO display, then you should definitely pay the expo a visit. Building with these little bricks has moved a long way from the traditional houses and trains. You can expect fabulous mosaic artworks, mega structures and replicas of famous objects and buildings. LEGO enthusiasts will join with BrisBricks, who have their own fabulous display at their Capalaba premises, to present a memorising display of creativity at the Strathpine Community Centre.

The expo will run in sessions to help alleviate line wait time, so you will need to make an Online Booking. The expo opens at 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, with sessions continuing every hour and a half until the last one at 3pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday. Once inside, visitors are welcome to stay and play for as long as they like. Cost of entry is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children aged 3-15, and free for under threes. Proceeds from the day will go towards supporting the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre. A not for profit organisation which offers support services to community members, provides a voice for the community by building and maintaining partnerships and offers low cost meeting space for local community groups and organisations.
